Easy Solutions to Keeping Your Balustrade Glass Pool Fence Looking New

A swimming pool right in your own backyard is always a good idea, but very few people really think of the maintenance that goes along with it. The upkeep and its collaterals, including that stylish glass fence you built around it, surprises a lot of pool owners. But before you start complaining, here are some smart ways of keeping them looking like new.

  1. Just like doing the dishes. The clean-up is similar, but you can’t just pop them in the dishwasher. Sponge them with some liquid dish soap diluted with warm water. This removes grease and other debris that may obstruct the clear view from both its sides.  Then, rinse with water from a hose or splash with buckets of warm water. Cap it off with lint-free wipes.
  2. Spot clean. Clean it while it’s hot. Bird droppings can be very corrosive to your glass fence. If you see some on your fence, grab a sponge, soap, clean water and wipe them away immediately. It will definitely reduce any unsightliness too.
  3. Spray on a shield. What else can you do after you’ve cleaned your balustrade? Spray some Nano4- Glass Ceramic over it! It’s an eco-friendly and non-toxic seal that will keep dirt and dust out, reduce mould and fungi growth, and prevent damage from frost, chemicals and abrasion. One coating offers protection up to 5 years (for new glass). It’s a great valued maintenance solution that is so convenient to use.
  4. Check for damage. Although it’s the least of your worries, as typical balustrade glass requires a lot to get damaged, it doesn’t hurt to ensure your pool fence isn’t chipped on the corners or developing a crack or two somewhere. As the cliché goes, prevention is better than cure. It’s advisable that you get to these slight damages to prevent a worse one.
  5. Tighten what’s loose. As you go around checking for chips and cracks, make sure you go through the clamps and fittings too. Not only does it maintain the aesthetics of your glass balustrade, it is also for your safety. Leaning on glass fences with wobbly screws can lead to tragedy, and you wouldn’t want that.

It is indeed fun to have your own pool wrapped around by a set of aesthetically fitted glass. What’s no fun is the upkeep. But with a few strokes and tricks up your sleeve, we’re pretty sure it won’t be as much of a bother as most might think.
